IncubationThe Regional Development Centre's Incubation Centre provides both on and off campus based incubation facilities to accommodate new or start up technology or knowledge based businesses in their early developmental phases. The on-campus facilities at Dundalk Institute of Technology are located just 40 minutes North of Dublin Airport, close to the M1 motorway and have recently undergone a major expansion. In addition, the first off-campus incubator has recently opened at Millmount, Drogheda – only 20 minutes from Dublin Airport. Applications are considered from knowledge-based projects, that are committed to innovation and that will benefit from the expertise, facilities and resources of both the Institute and the RDC. Projects normally require developmental periods of 2 to 3 years and are then encouraged to relocate. Sectors supported are Software, ICT, Creative & Digital Media, Specialist Engineering, Renewable Energy & Medical Sciences. Facilities to date have been used by indigenous technology based enterprises as well as smaller scale and initial phase multinational companies establishing operations in this region.
