On The Other Hand, The Right Place for the Left Handed

James Gogarty, a second year Business Studies student at DKIT, first came up with his idea for a Left-hand Shop when he thought his son may be left-handed and found it was very hard to find suitable products for him.

James and his wife developed “On The Other Hand” as a new Irish website specialising in products that are designed for Left Hander’s of any age. James received support from the Dundalk Credit Union Student Innovation Fund to help get the business off the ground and now has his own website trading.

Mara Irish Surf Co.

Peter Carroll was a final year student in DkIT when he set about setting up a business that is all about Irish surfing. A keen surfer himself that absolutely adores surfing the Irish coastline, Pete's goal is to build a business that embraces the Irish surfing culture while providing quality water sports equipment.

Matthias Von Bargen is the driving force behind this web design company. A first year student in DkIT Matthias received support from the Dundalk Credit Union to help cover business start up costs.





Electronic Intervals

Sean Gilleece is a music student in DkIT who set up his company Electronic Intervals to bridge the gap between the band and dj scene, the company provide professional DJ services, composition, graphic design, promotions and music management services while promoting a wide variety of artists.

 

Mixtuts.com

First year Slavik Flodorov developed Mixtuts as an educational focused website allowing users view and upload video tutorials they've created for various software applications. Slavik used funds secured under the Student innovation Fund for development work on the platform.


Cathal Johnson

Irish harmonica player Cathal aims to build a business from research he carried out for his final year dissertation. Successful in his application the Dundalk Credit Union, Cathal used the SIF grant for web development costs.


Donal McArdle

Final Year student Donal set up his household maintenance business and has quickly built up a client base in the North East. Donal received a grant from the Dundalk Credit Union Student Innovation Fund to help cover start-up costs.


Lurgangreen Art gallery

Geraldine Hoey launched her art gallery business as a first year in March 2010. The aim is to present local art in an easily accessible pleasant way and at affordable prices. All pieces are original art, focusing primarily on contemporary figurative, still life and realism. Many of the gallery's artists are represented in public, corporate and private collections. Geraldine received a grant from Dundalk Credit Union (Student Innovation Fund) to help her market the gallery and to have a website developed.

Join the Cue

'Join The Cue let your talents shine through'


Francis Gorman (BAVF Student Year 2) launched his business, 'Join The Cue'. He developed the company while studying in DkIT, to give everyone in the film, television, theatre, modelling, media and creative arts industry an outlet to meet. Join The Cue was designed as a recruitment, advertising and networking site for individuals in these industries. Francis was also the first recipient of the Dundalk Credit Union Student Innovation Fund which was used to help with development costs.

The Mystery Tour

'The Mystery Tour' is a Co. Meath-based tour operator set up for people who like a bit of spice and adventure on their holidays. The enterprise is that of Shane O'Dwyer (Business Studies 1) and his brother Mark.

Take a journey into the unknown visiting new places, cultures, people and experiences as this tour operator springs surprise after surprise on you. It starts at the airport, where you get receive your stamped "Top Secret" Mystery Tour Envelopes. Upon opening the envelope, our first location is revealed! This is accompanied by maps, information and things to do. The same is done just before departure to subsequent destination. Previous tours have seen trips to Holland, Germany, Hungary, The Czech Republic and everywhere else in between! An experienced and highly competitive operator, The Mystery Tour is currently selling to the student.
